PROFESSIONAL MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTION
It is a blunt reality that we live in dangerous times. It is not enough that we prepare ourselves just on the physical level, but mentally and psychologically. We do not have the luxury of techniques that are flashy, or visually impressive. These do not work. What do work are simple, field-tested techniques that efficiently and quickly gain control of the situation. Whether circumstances dictate we control an attacker via pain compliance techniques, or we have no choice but to cripple or even utilize lethal force, we must be in absolute control over ourselves before we can hope to have control over a situation.
Weapons Extraction
Facing an armed attacker can be one of the most intimidating situations a person can
ever be in.
.

It is not enough to simply rely on a weapon to always save you. What if you aren't armed at the time, or can't get to your weapon? What if you are taken utterly by surprise, and there is no time to draw a weapon? What if you can't retain your weapon?
External weapons are excellent tools, and it certainly is prudent to become proficient with them as an extra layer of practical defense (firearms, knives, etc). However, with the possibility they could be taken from you and even used against you,
it is imperative to also sharpen the understanding and application of your own natural weapons. In reality, we need to be prepared with all available tools (armed and unarmed both). However, over-reliance on an external weapon can be a very dangerous assumption on your part. To say 'well, that could never happen to me', or 'I will ALWAYS have my weapon' are also dangerous assumptions, as well as being short-sighted and arrogant. These mentalities are risky liabilities, not only for yourself but possibly for others.
We learn how to perceive an incoming armed assault- this trains us to not only move with the attack (rather than against it), but to use the attack as a resource to extract the weapon, and even use it against the attacker if necessary. We learn about momentum, leverage, and trajectory of energy and motion. We don't just deal with the physical attack itself, but how to understand the intention that drives it. Moving with the attack allows us to maintain our own center and control in the face of armed assault, and minimizes the fear-based responses of frozen inaction or paniced over-reaction.
.
Mental Conditioning
We train to operate without hesitation by conditioning the subconscious. This trains us to 'flow' with the unfolding of actions. We do not have the luxury of analyzing consciously what we must do- there is only time to just do it. We use a variety of tools to achieve this understanding. These include random, realistic attacks, 'the Gauntlet' (multiple armed attacks), and intensive blind-folded training. If you condition the mind, and condition the internal core, the physical dynamic becomes balanced and more efficient.
